General Hospital Recap: The One Where Ava Shocks Sonny With Kindness

The General Hospital recap for Friday, July 24, 2020, features a flashback to May of this year. In that episode, Ava reached out to Sonny, Laura reached out to Robert, and Lulu reached her breaking point with Olivia.

General Hospital Recap Highlight

Sonny (Maurice Benard) was heartened to find Ava (Maura West) and Avery visiting with Mike (Max Gail). While Avery conversed and drew pictures with her grandpa, Ava and Sonny stepped into the hall for a private word.

He expressed his gratitude for Ava making the trip. She apologized for her earlier treatment of Mike back when his Alzheimer’s symptoms were just beginning to manifest.

Both discussed Mike’s current predicament and the struggle that Sonny was facing in trying to ascertain whether or not Mike was still himself. Later, once Ava and Avery had decamped for the latter’s school, Sonny was summoned by one of Mike’s physicians who wondered if Sonny was willing to authorize the insertion of a feeding tube into his father.

Sonny struggled with the concept and turned to a visiting Michael (Chad Duell) for support, though he knew that the decision would ultimately fall to him. Mike was just too far gone to make his thoughts on the matter known.

Good Golly, Miss Holly

Robert (Tristan Rogers) awoke hungover and housed in an unknown location. Luckily, he was able to quickly recover and ascertain that he had made his way to Laura’s (Genie Francis) home. She took good care of him and helped him sober up with some strong, black coffee, but only after she took the opportunity to poke fun at his confused state.

Afterward, the mood turned somber and Robert revealed the reason for his night of heavy drinking: Holly Sutton’s (Emma Samms) death. And despite her reservations about the woman who sired a child by her ex-husband, Laura offered Robert the comfort that he needed.

Once he was fit enough to return to work, Robert was confronted by Mac (John J. York) who informed him of his and Anna (Finola Hughes) working theory: Holly’s passing was no accident!

All Family’s Fight

A misunderstanding between Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), Dustin (Mark Lawson), and Lulu (Emme Rylan) resulted in the Mama Falconeri forgetting the tenets of good mother-in-lawing… bite your tongue, exercise patience, and slap on a smile, and rubbing her ex-daughter-in-law the wrong way.

Luckily, Lulu was able to exercise some patience of her own and exit the scene before the issue could get too far out of hand. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
