The General Hospital recap for Monday, June 29, 2020, features the first of a five-day, five-episode marathon dedicated to Sonny Corinthos and his frequently fraught and sometimes tender relationships with his large brood of children.
In today’s episode, Sonny teaches his firstborn a tough lesson: snitches get shot in the chest and, if they survive, they get stitches.
General Hospital Recap Highlights
Now, in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) defense, he didn’t know that undercover agent Dominic Pirelli was, in actuality, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), the son that he shared with childhood sweetheart Olivia (Lisa LoCicero). Plus, he was really, really angry to learn that the man he had been considering his successor was a rat.
So, of course, he shot him at point-blank range. What did you expect the Kingpin of Port Charles to do? Let his betrayer walk free? Actually take responsibility for his actions and face the music? At least he offered a terse apology before firing the bullet.
How would Sonny have been expected to know that in the immediate aftermath of his crime Olivia would burst into the room and reveal he was the young man’s father.
Luckily for everyone involved, Dante survived this temper tantrum and lived to fight another day. Oh, and he decided to forgive and forget. Now that’s family loyalty for you!
Josslyn’s Baptism
During the botched execution, most of the Port Charles elite gathered at one of the city’s many picturesque churches and happily witnessed the christening of baby Josslyn Jacks.
And they were all polite enough not to make comment about Jason (Steve Burton) – the patron saint of hitmen – standing at the alter pledging to keep the child safe from danger and evil influence.
Though the event was festive enough, the chapel was still rife with tension. Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) was battling the blues – the result of finding out that his beloved Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) had cheated on him with his half-brother. And Lulu (Julie Marie Berman) worried over Dante’s absence.
And Jax (Ingo Rademacher) worried about Carly’s (Laura Wright) reaction to Sonny’s impending arrest. Especially since he had worked so hard to facilitate the inevitable. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
