General Hospital Recap Highlight
With Sonny (Maurice Benard) currently consumed with grief over his father’s steep decline, GH took full advantage of “Flashback Friday” to repeat an episode (from March 30, 2018) that served as both a fun trip down memory lane for Mike (Max Gail) and a celebration of the soap’s 55th anniversary.
Context Is Key
Two years ago, Mike still possessed many of the memories and facilities that he has long since lost. In order to bolster his spirits and give him a truly happy day, the Corinthos family has taken Kevin’s (Jon Lindstrom) suggestion of nostalgia-immersion therapy to heart.
In no time flat, the Metro Court was restaged to resemble “Luke’s” — the club that was once the darling of Port Charles nightlife – and the scene of many a mob-sanctioned hit… just ask Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) and his throat.
But while many in the town happily accept the invitation for the “one night only extravaganza,” Maxie Jones West (Kristen Storms) is not one of them. She’s only days removed from having buried her beloved Nathan, so, not surprisingly, Maxie isn’t up for a party.
Mike — Man About Town
Mike was tickled pink by his son’s efforts and he immediately took over the running of the establishment’s bar. The experiment proved beneficial in many ways – he immediately recognized Lucy (Lynn Herring) as “boss,” owing to her previously having a stake in the original club and he could remember little “tomboy” Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero) – though he couldn’t recall that Brenda and Sonny had long since separated.
Truisms
Though Mac (John J. York) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) couldn’t convince Maxie to make it to the party, a conversation with Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) did the trick.
Thanks For The Memories
But it wouldn’t be a true party – nor an anniversary episode – without a little entertainment. So the guests were treated to the musical stylings of Eddie Maine — AKA Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and the TV audience was treated to some TRULY classic clips.
There were Steve and Audrey March Hardy’s very first meeting, the first scene to feature Tony Geary’s devil may care Luke Spencer, and of course, a flashback to the moment Felecia realized whose heart now beats in her daughter’s chest. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
