The General Hospital recap for Tuesday, June 23, 2020, features the second of a five-day, five-episode marathon of all things Sam and Jason. On today’s episode, Jason readied himself to tell Sam some devastating news.
The baby that Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) created and the one that Sam and Jason (Steve Burton) planned to raise as there own has died. But in the aftermath of that tragedy lies hope. The umbilical cord stem cells from the deceased child are to be implanted into Kristina, the secret, ailing love child of Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Sonny.
Everyone is confident that the surgery will help cure Kristina’s leukemia, but if Ric Lansing (Ric Hearst) had his way, Sonny won’t be around to share in the miracle. The Teflon Don and Alexis were both shocked when Ric produced a restraining order barring the former from seeing his daughter, but Alexis made sure that Sonny was present when the little girl was wheeled into surgery.
Meanwhile, Jason kept a watchful eye on Sam, willing her to regain consciousness. During his vigil, he became determined to be the one to tell Sam of baby Lila’s passing.
He took advice from Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) – who cautioned him to share in Sam’s mourning just as he had shared in her plans for raising the baby – but dismissed an offer of help from Courtney (Alicia Leigh Williams). Later, once Sam came to, Jason relayed the painful news.
Courtney and Mike (Ron Hale) worried that Sonny and Carly’s (Tamara Braun) marriage wouldn’t be able to survive Carly keeping Kristina’s paternity a secret. They relayed the story to Lois (Lesli Kay), who in turn spilled the beans to Lorenzo (Ted King).
Off that conversation, Lorenzo made a beeline for Carly whom he tracked down at the new home her father had recently purchased for her. Because nothing says fresh start like leaving your mobster husband and moving into a free house!
Emily (Natalia Livingston) dutifully tended to Connor Bishop’s (Tyler Christopher) wound and later offered him comfort after he experienced a nightmare. Nikolas (also Tyler Christopher) caught the two and didn’t seem too thrilled at their closeness. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
