The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, January 16 features the return of Laura Webber — as she becomes mayor of Port Charles.

It was a triumphant day for the Webber family as Laura (Genie Francis) took the oath of office as Port Charles’ mayor, swearing to protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) was there with her boys to cheer Grandma on, and just as Laura was about to take said oath, she made a decision.

Hearing herself referred to as Laura Collins, she took off her wedding ring and instead was sworn in as Laura Webber. Not Baldwin. Not Spencer. Webber.

Before the inauguration, Liz and company got ready at home and Aiden (Jason David) was afraid Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) would be there. Privately, Jake (Hudson West) told Cam (Will Lipton) that Charlotte had been bullying Aiden and he’s sure other kids are too.

At the inauguration, Aiden handed out cookies and Cam told Franco (Roger Howarth) people might think Aiden is weird for baking.

Scotty (Kin Shriner) and Ava (Maura West) got together at Charlie’s Pub where Ava told him of her plans to get Avery and move away with Kevin. Scotty essentially told her she’s nuts, but Kevin…we mean Ryan… is clearly the most nuts.

He called Carly (Laura Wright) and asked to have a meeting. He was also thrilled she’d bring Sonny (Maurice Benard) along. Two birds with one stone?

Could Sonny even get away considering what’s happening with Mike (Max Gail)? He thought Sonny was a thief who stole his watch, forgetting he gave Sonny that watch months ago. Carly managed to talk Mike down as she pretended to run the hotel he thought he was in.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
