The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, August 5, 2020 features Sonny learning to let go, Valentin offering two further quid pro quo arrangements, Neil and Alexis hashing it out, and Nelle hatching yet another scheme.
Sonny (Maurice Benard) spent the morning doing his utmost to convince himself that his decision to have a feeding tube inserted into his father was the right one.
When he headed off for the hospital, Carly (Laura Wright) summoned Jason (Steve Burton) to the house, showed him the research on feeding tubes for Alzheimer’s patients, and begged him to accompany her to GH in a last-ditch effort to dissuade Sonny of the notion that the procedure would help Mike.
Once settled at the hospital, Sonny learned from Felix (Marc Samuel) that Yvonne (Jane Hubert) had undergone the same surgery as Mike and since developed a plethora of complications. After visiting the woman, Sonny sought succor from Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) who cautioned him that feeding tube or no feeding tube Mike will die.
Furthermore, instead of worrying about his own feelings of guilt, Elizabeth told Sonny to focus on Mike’s quality of life moving forward and to choose grace. Off that conversation, Sonny informed a visiting Carly and Jason that he had decided to halt the surgery. Then he visited Mike and tearfully told him that, when he was ready to go, it would be his decision and his alone.
Nelle (Chloe Lanier) came calling to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and demanded yet another set of forged passports for herself and Wiley. Valentin acquiesced, but only on the condition that Nelle keeps mum about selling him her shares of ELQ.
Once the meeting of the devious minds concluded, Valentin cornered Sam (Lindsay Hartley) and offered her a mutually advantageous deal: give him Danny and Scout’s voting proxy – and stay quiet about the act – and he would get her a new, and more understanding parole officer.
Neil (Joe Flanigan) paid Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) an awkward visit and attempted to explain his recent absence. Alexis, in turn, insisted that they should part company – most likely indefinitely.
Nelle arrived at the Quartermaines, ostensibly for her court-appointed visit with her son, but she merely caused a scene, insulted Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), and planted a tracking device inside Wiley’s favorite toy. Now the maniacal mommy would know where her precious baby boy was at all times. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
