The General Hospital recap for Monday, July 26, 2021, features Monica Quartermaine leveling with two of her staff, Nina Reeves basking in attention, and a number of folks heading down to a dank, dark basement supposedly housing a corpse.
Monica (Leslie Charleson) informed Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Terry Randolph’s (Cassandra James), much to their chagrin, that they’d have to share the title of Chief of Staff. Terry was game, but Britt wasn’t in the least bit interested. The rub? If Britt doesn’t put on her big girl pants and acquiesce, neither she nor Terry will get the top spot.
Alexis Davis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) attempt to poke Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom) into action was stymied by Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), who’d ostensibly come to chat with his favorite aunt, though he was really there to spy on Ryan in his natural habitat.
When Alexis got a front-row seat into how totes sad Nikolas was over Ava Jerome Cassadine’s (Maura West) request for a divorce, and how desperate he was to prove, once and for all, whether or not Ryan was their stalker, she volunteered to be his eyes and ears…and it’s not like she has anything better to do than watch Ryan like a hawk as often as humanly possible.
Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) return to Nixon Falls delighted “Mike” (Maurice Benard), as did her opinion that his stubble was all kinds of attractive. The duo drank together, danced together, discussed their intertwined futures, and kissed.
It was all cute, and romantic – until you remember that he’s an amnesiac, and she’s withholding the truth about his past. But it’s fine. A Sonny without the mob ties is a happy Sonny, so who is Nina to ruin all that?
Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) happily unburdened herself to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and he promised to dispose of her and Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) Peter August (Wes Ramsey)-sized problem.
At the same time, Finn was busy talking around the issue with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), who’d deduced that her ex had a hand in Peter’s disappearance. After the back and forth, he led her down to the not-so-secret sub-basement – totally unaware of the fact that Jason had beaten them to it.
Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) cornered Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), informed him about Shawn’s status as an innocent man, and asked him if he knew where Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) was hiding. He didn’t. However, he’d be happy to help them convince her to return home should they get a lead – oh, and he’s really sorry for being so tough on Shawn; he really thought the man was guilty…of committing the crime that he confessed to. Funny that.
