The General Hospital recap for Thursday, August 1 features a storm ripping through the Port Charles metropolis, trapping a therapist and his patient in close quarters and making a perfectly awkward dinner party even more so.
The raging thunderstorm sapped the power from The Metro Court and the backup generator failed to kick in. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Neil’s (Joe Flanigan) elevator ride was brought to a screeching halt and they quickly realize that help was not forthcoming.
Alexis tries to get Neil to open up about why he seems so bothered — could it be that he’s claustrophobic? No dice, Neil sais. Instead, he revealed that it was the anniversary of his daughter’s death. Joanna became involved in a cult that abused narcotics and she died of a purposeful overdose.
To mark the occasion of her passing Neil goes to a karaoke bar and dedicates the song Hush Little Baby to his daughter. But now, since their stuck in the elevator, he fears he will miss his chance — the first time in five years. Alexis began singing the song herself and after some hesitation, Neil joined in.
At Wyndemere, the recipient of the truth serum was revealed to be Hayden (Rebecca Budig) who, when caught, admitted she was trying to snoop in Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) office.
Later, she embarrassed herself by asking Finn (Michael Easton) if he ever thinks of her because she is always thinking of him and the mistake that she made running out on their relationship.
Finn told her that it was too late for sorry — he has moved on with Anna. A disappointed Hayden wondered if Finn was really in love with Anna. He said he is. The storm broke and Hayden, Jax (Ingo Rademacher), and Finn were able to leave the island.
Nina (Cynthia Watros) thought the night was a bust but Valentin didn’t agree — they now know that Hayden and Jax were looking for something. Now they just have to put their brains together and figure out what that something was. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
