The General Hospital recap for October 5-9, 2020, features a number of returns – some welcomed, some not – and a whole lot of extra juicy drama!
General Hospital Recap Highlights
There were returns aplenty to the upstate hamlet known as Port Charles – some more pleasant and more welcomed than others. First up, Jackie Templeton. She was last seen some thirty-odd years ago and though she exited looking a bit like future superstar Demi Moore, she’s come back looking suspiciously like All My Children’s Jenny Gardner…but we’ll digress.
For anyone wondering what the superstar reporter had been up to during her self-imposed exile, here are the broad strokes. She continued to nurse her grudge against Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) – he who dumped her for Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) post-Laura (Genie Francis) side piece, Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) – she married Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) father and gave birth to the still-adorable Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard).
Despite the bitter ending to their romance – and the fist he received to the kidney upon their (re)introduction – Robert was tickled pink to see his ex. And he was happy to subsequently toast to letting bygones be bygones. Finn, on the other hand, was less than pleased to see his step-mother dearest enter the fray.
Then there was the much-missed Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) who was desperate to reunite with her beloved Ned (Wally Kurth). Too bad he was busy convincing Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) to keep mum about their one-night stand! When the married pair finally did come together, the reunion devolved into a guilty Ned projecting his infidelity on his wife whom he accused of stepping out on him…maybe she should have stayed in Monte Carlo.
Finally, we had Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) strolling into the chapel that hosted Mike’s (Max Gail) memorial service just in time to give good Sonny (Maurice Benard) a big bear hug.
The Dimpled Don was sure that Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Rocco would be just as thrilled by Dante’s homecoming, but Lulu for one wasn’t exactly jumping for joy. She’d already asked Dustin (Mark Lawson) to move in with her, and Dante did interrupt their *ahem* spot of afternoon delight…so we’re gonna guess she’d probably wish he would have just remained back in frigid Geneva.
GH Musings
With a murder-minded sister like Alex (Finola Hughes), Anna (also Finola Hughes) sure doesn’t need any more enemies. Luckily, she has Valentin (once one of her most hated foes) on hand to assist her in bringing down the former neurologist.
Oh, that’s right…Alex used to be a quite harmless, doctor who was actually the VICTIM of an evil spymaster mother. Alex was also a proponent of romantic love – and she has the marriage certificate and engagement rings to prove it.
Does anyone actually remember this backstory? Clearly, the writers don’t but surely there are some other fans out there who find all this stuff completely OOC. Perhaps there’s actually a third identically Devane out there impersonating Alex…stranger things have happened on this soap. Casey the alien anyone?
Now that Alexis is officially off the sober wagon, who do you think will be the one to help her climb back on? Sam (Kelly Monaco)? Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth)? Brando, whom she continues to have great chemistry with btw?
Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) is usually the smartest, the craziest, and the most dangerous person in a room. But his insistence that Ava (Maura West) divorce Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) was surely an overplaying of his one functional hand, right?
Cameron (William Lipton) likes Josslyn (Eden McCoy)…but he also likes Trina (Sydney Mikayla). Cameron kissed Trina…so it only makes sense that he should kiss Josslyn as well. But now the young man is as confused as ever.
And Dev (Ashton Arbab) is seriously creeping us out with his seemingly deepening obsession with Joss. Can we please, please, please avoid the whole “smitten suitor goes crazy shtick”? General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
