The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, May 1 features Oscar Nero Quartermaine accepting that his time on earth has come to an end.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Oliva (Lisa LoCicero) sat in the living room adding photographs of Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Oscar (Garren Stitt) to the Quartermaine photo album, the pictorial family tome that traced the lineage from family founders Edward and Lila.
On the staircase, Drew (Billy Miller) and Kim (Tamara Braun) discussed Oscar’s plight. Ned (Wally Kurth) joined Monica (Leslie Charleston) in the family crypt and she told him she was comforted by the knowledge that those who passed on would be there to greet the newly departed.
Upstairs in Oscar’s room, and drowsy Josslyn finally fell asleep and the sound of her novel hitting the ground woke Oscar up.
In front of him stood the comforting spirit of his great grandmother Lila. Although Oscar was sure he had never met her he felt as if he knew her.
Lila placed a hand on Oscar’s chest who suddenly felt rejuvenated and accidentally woke Josslyn to show her his marked improvement.
Oscar’s stunned family rushed him to General Hospital where numerous tests were ran and re-ran and all came back with the same conclusion.
Oscars tumor had gone into sudden regression and he was all but guaranteed a long and healthy life!

But, Oscar began to realize that all was not as it seemed. Miracles of this magnitude just don’t happen. And he was able to catch the occasional glimpse of Edward and Lila’s spirits hovering on the periphery of the action.
An elated party made up of Oscar’s friends and family arrived at Charlie’s to celebrate his recovery and Oscar took the opportunity to have deep and meaningful conversations with his father, best friend Cameron, and Josslyn.
Suddenly Oscar began to see visions of a possible future — Sonny and Carly welcoming their new baby into the world, his mother and Julian happily engaged, and Josslyn now a high school graduate embarking on a new romance. Comforted by what he has seen he told Josslyn he ready, “To go home.”
Oscar explained that he realized that by trying to cling to life he had doomed himself and those he loved to a life lived in limbo and that he was finally able to let go.
Returning to the real world, Oscar’s spirit shed it mortal coil and after tenderly kissing Josslyn goodbye he followed Edward and Lila into the light.
Josslyn awoke seemingly aware of Oscar’s farewell gesture. When she turned towards his bed, she realized he had passed.
