The General Hospital recap for Tuesday, June 2, 2020, features a return trip to the Spring of 2017 and the start of the Nurses Ball.
The specters of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) loomed large in today’s flashback episode. The former haunted the dreams of “Jason” (Billy Miller) and Jake (Hudson West) – whom she had groomed to disperse a poisonous gas during the fundraising event.
The latter’s death consumed the thoughts of his father, Sonny (Maurice Benard), who became determined to understand why Morgan’s final moments were spent in a manic state despite him taking his medication.
There wasn’t a single collapse during this year’s red carpet, though Nina (Michelle Stafford) – who served as Mario Lopez’s co-correspondent – looked like she would hit the deck at any moment.
She and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) were fighting…again. Nothing much changes between these two. Meanwhile, Anna (Finola Hughes) wanted a (not-so-friendly) chat with the supposed Cassadine bastard. She knew he sold the “Chimera” – AKA the poison currently in Jake’s possession – and she wanted the buyer’s identity.
Carly (Laura Wright), Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman), Josslyn (Eden McCoy), and Michael (Chad Duell) managed to make it down the red carpet without incident – though Carly was still fuming at Sonny for his infidelity with her divorce attorney. For his part, Sonny remained at home and busied himself by invading his dead son’s privacy. Oops, we mean reading Morgan’s journal.
Backstage, Scott (Kin Shriner) worried that Ava’s (Maura West) donation of $250,000 in Morgan’s memory would raise suspicion. Ms. Jerome eventually conceded that he was right and informed Lucy (Lynn Herring) – she who used her knowledge of Ava switching Morgan’s lithium for sugar pills to get the big check in the first place.
Lucy agreed to keep Morgan’s name out of the proceedings, but the info did reach Mario Lopez. So color Sonny surprised when he heard about Ava’s contribution and its association with his son.
Lucy took to the stage, reminded the public why they were really there – to give… generously – and introduced the GH Nurses who performed an upbeat version of their old standby, You’re Not Alone Anymore. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
