The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, July 14, 2021, features Austin Gatlin Holt staking his claim on Edward Quartermaine’s fortune, Maxie Jones taking Nina Reeves into her confidence, and “Mike” encouraging a despondent Lenny Caulfield to fight the good fight.
Not one member of the Q family was particularly thrilled to have yet another bastard relation emerge from the woodwork and attempt to upset the status quo – and that goes double for Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) since Austin’s (Roger Howarth) mother had a bit of a thing with Alan back in the day. (Though, in Alan’s defense, he was stricken with amnesia at the time. A strike against him, he was trying to frame Monica for his murder right before the amnesia struck.)
Austin promised that he wasn’t a bad guy; he’s just looking to inherit what should have rightfully been his father’s. Spoilsport Ned (Wally Kurth) was all, grrrr you can’t have anything, it’s all ours bwwwwhaha; Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) attempted to play peacekeeper, and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) warned that Austin had better get used to all this infighting.
Maxie had quite the story to share with Nina. Firstly, no, she’s not about to go kidnap another woman’s baby. That’s Nina’s M.O. No, in point of fact, if Maxie were to go and collect Bailey at that very moment, all she’d be doing is taking her actual daughter home.
Nina is shocked, shocked that Maxie and Brook Lynn could do such a thing…to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Haven’t they considered that innocent man’s feelings? Not in the least, replied Maxie. She’s a little bit too concerned with keeping her daughter safe from a psychopath.
Meanwhile, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) privately and publicly gloated over his father and Ava’s (Maura West) separation. Here’s hoping Laura Collins (Genie Francis) keeps her promise to find that “sick bastard” who came between her son and his wife.
Lenny’s (Rif Hutton) heart isn’t doing so good, but “Mike” (Maurice Benard) and Phyllis (Joyce Guy) aren’t about to throw in the towel. They’re getting a second opinion, and they’re going to make sure that Lenny gets the absolute best treatment that the money they don’t have will provide.
