The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, August 19, 2020 features the public declaration of a private condition, the resurrection of seriously pissed-off hero, and the first Nurses Ball (telethon) performances.
Even though the Nurses Ball is being presented a little bit differently this year, we have Lucy’s (Lynn Herring) assurance that the night will still be full of entertainment. True to form, there are also some shocking pronouncements on the way… like Maxie (Kirsten Storms) accidentally airing her pregnancy news over the hotel’s P.A. system!
Hey, at least the cat is out of the bag and Peter (Wes Ramsey) was beyond thrilled. He even offered to sell his stake in the newspaper in order to devote himself full time to the rearing of the child, leaving no reason for Maxie to give up on dreams of running Deception.
While Mac (John J. York) and Anna (Finola Hughes) took the opportunity to congratulate the expecting couple, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) silently stewed in the background. Maxie’s ex is desperate to use the damning information from Nelle (Chloe Lanier) to nail Peter, but Robert insisted that they proceed with the utmost caution.
Back inside the ballroom, Lucy was forced to cede the floor to the chairman of the hospital board, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). His subsequent speech infuriated Portia (Brook Kerr), whom Curtis (Donnell Turner) attempted to calm.
During their talk, Portia revealed that her marriage to Taggert had disintegrated due to her inability to let go of the memory of their long-ago affair.
Brook Lynn (Briana Lane) attempted to remedy her stage fright by kissing Dustin (Mark Lawson)… an act which Lulu (Emme Rylan) did not approve of. In the kiss’s aftermath, Dustin insisted to Brook Lynn that he was a committed man and that she was going to have to look elsewhere for comfort.
Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) took a clandestine meeting with a very much alive Taggert and spent the majority of their conversation dissuading him from going through with his plan to personally assassinate Cyrus.
Taggert agreed to let the villain live for now, but he also warned Jordan that she had better make inroads in her scheme to double-cross her new boss. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
