It was a short and quick Major League Baseball season thanks to delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and now the start of the playoffs will take the place of General Hospital for 3-4 days this week.
Baseball Instead of GH
While Monday featured an all-new episode, Tuesday, September 29, Wednesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 1 will be taken up by baseball playoffs. However, in markets that air GH at a different time, the February 3, 4, and 5, 2015 episodes will air, featuring Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey).
While an all-new GH episode is scheduled for Friday, October 2, it may also be pre-empted if more games are needed to determine an MLB division champion.
The week starting October 5, 2020, will be all-new Port Charles mayhem for us to enjoy. (Yes, we all got tired of classic episodes this year.) So, tune in Friday if no baseball and next week to see what happens with Alexis’s (Wally Kurth) drinking, the story of Cyrus The Mob Boss, Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) search for her daughter, Carly’s (Laura Wright) lies about Nelle (Chloe Lanier), and Franco (Roger Howarth) and Liz’s (Rebecca Herbst) fun extortion of Ava (Maura West) and Nikolas (Marcus Coloma).
General Hospital History
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running daytime drama is Guiding Light. General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) gripping romance and wedding, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH knows how to please their viewers.
Bringing the Drama
More than five decades of gripping drama has kept the daytime sudser on the air as other soap operas were axed. It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). GH airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for air times.
