The stage is being set for November sweeps on General Hospital – and just in time, as it’s not even the last week of October!
Things are obviously off to a great start when we got a fabulous monologue from a captured Maxie (Kirsten Storms). It was as if the writers heard our frustrations with her situation when the daughter of Port Charles royalty spouted, “This is not how my story’s going to end. I am the daughter of Frisco and Felicia Jones. I laugh in the face of danger.” And laugh she did as she channeled her parts and apparently The Lion King’s Simba and broke out of her bindings. It wasn’t long before Nathan was on the scene, rescuing his beloved.
Devil’s In the Details
We all knew Claudette (Bree Williamson) would never win a Mother of the Year award and would double cross Griffin (Matt Cohen), but to zonk him over the head with a paperweight?! Ouch! The joke was on her though when Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) sat next to her on her getaway plane. Meanwhile, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Laura (Genie Francis) are both feeling on edge about the wayward Cassadine, even while erroneously thinking he’s safely tucked away in a Greek jail.
Down Carly!
Poor Kiki (Hayley Erin) isn’t content with simple self-flagellation in the privacy of her own hideaway. No, she has to seek more trouble by visiting Carly (Laura Wright), who promptly rips into her about letting her precious and oh-so (NOT) perfect son down. Luckily, Sonny (Maurice Benard), enjoying a rare moment of being the calm one in the crowd, tries to smooth over the pain Carly’s inflicted on the young girl. It was an incredibly gracious and unexpected moment, especially as a bitter Carly watched from the wings. He knew he was the one Carly was really mad at and called her on it after Kiki left.
Crossing the Line
It wasn’t all high-octane fear and loathing in Port Charles. Two relationships moved forward as Laura allowed herself to give Kevin (Jon Linstrom) another try with a date. They picked up almost where they left off, with him serving as her sounding board for everything Cassadine. But it was Hayden (Rebecca Budig) who was over the moon as Finn (Michael Easton) finally let down his guard and opened himself up to her. He admitted he wanted her, and the two FINALLY fell into each other’s arms. Keep it up, General Hospital – the stage is set for a roller coaster November sweeps, and we can’t wait.
