On General Hospital, Sonny takes great pride in being on good terms with all of his baby-mamas… except for Ava (Maura West). Sonny (Maurice Benard) hates Ava. They may share a daughter, Avery. But she’s not the result of love. Or like. Or even momentary lust. She’s the result of crypt sex. No, that’s not some cool new expression the kids are using. It means when you have sex. In a crypt. With dead people in it.
The only reason Sonny didn’t kill Ava while she was pregnant was because he’s a family man who would never do anything to harm his child. But, as soon as Avery was born (well, after she was returned from being cut out of Ava’s womb and kidnapped), Sonny sued for sole custody. And won.
Because Ava is the daughter of a mobster and thus created a dangerous living space for Avery. And Sonny is… Sonny is… an upstanding coffee importer. Ava and Sonny have been at each other’s throats ever since. But is it finally time for them to kiss and make up? What almost 5,000 of you said.
Nah, a majority 64% of you dismiss. We prefer them full of rage and hate and insults. Sonny has enough people adoring him, he needs someone to remind him that he’s not all that and a bag of bullets. And, some days, hating Sonny is the only thing keeping Ava going.
But then there’s the minority 36% of the audience that wants Ava and Sonny to be friends – if only so that it can drive Carly (Laura Wright) bonkers. She’s always acting so smug around Ava, taunting how Avery thinks of Carly as her mother and deciding when and how Ava can visit. If Sonny and Ava end up on the same page, Carly’s head will explode!
