Ever since she barged her way into town, Mafiosa Ava Jerome (Maura West) has proven that she is not a woman to be trifled with. She can verbally cut you down to size with a quickness… or she will just plain cut you — ask Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom) all about it.
She can frequently be found with at least one extra dry martini clutched between her perfectly manicured claws but God help you if you forget her three olives because she’s just as comfortable holding (and firing) a handgun.
But what do viewers think about this fascinating character? Soap Hub asked just who was rooting for Ava and who was calling for her defeat. Here’s what over 13,000 of you had to say:
A little over 81% of you think that Port Charles resident She-Devil is A-Okay. Ava, you say, is a character desperately needed on the canvas because who else is going to call out hypocrites de jour Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) on their bull? Scotty (Kin Shriner) can’t share the burden alone.
Ava brings that necessary pop and sizzle to the show that would be lacking were the writers to ever part with her. And she’s funny. If there’s one thing General Hospital needs, it’s the chuckle-inducing one-liners that this lady can pop out at any given moment.
A smaller contingency of General Hospital fans, 18% in total, actually let out an audible UGH whenever Ava is near. You absolutely, unapologetically hate her. To you, she is a constant reminder that Connie never got a lick of justice and, let’s face it, she’s also responsible for AJ’s death and the usurpation of Spencer Cassadine’s rightful legacy.
The woman is bad news and you don’t want her anywhere near your favorite GH characters. Maybe after she’s done some serious repenting you’ll cut her a little slack but until then you’re not going to be appearing at the Friends of Ava Jerome Luncheon. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
