Oh, look, General Hospital fans, Alexis can’t handle something… again. And she’s responding by falling off the wagon.
What a strong, female role model she is for her three daughters and her granddaughter. We wanted to know how you felt about this very familiar twist… and over 6,000 viewers answered:
A winning majority 45% of the audience couldn’t believe that all it took was Sam (Kelly Monaco) raising her voice to Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and, zoom, there she goes, down the throat of a bottle.
Isn’t Alexis supposed to be some hot-shot lawyer? Isn’t she a grown woman who has faced many crises, starting with watching Helena (Constance Towers) cutting her mother’s throat all the way through to her then-husband, Julian (William DeVry), threatening to do the same to her?
Shouldn’t she be a little tougher than that? A little more capable of handling life’s little ups and downs. Grow up, Alexis, we are all very disappointed in you.
A smaller 33% of General Hospital fans are OK with the story point as long as it leads to Alexis getting some insight and changing her behavior – finally. She’s been doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. That’s the definition of crazy pants. If this actually forces Alexis to stop acting like a scattered teenager (see above), then you’re all for it.
And then there are the 22% who want Alexis to stay just the way she is. If Alexis ever gets herself together, there goes the drama. And you love the drama. Alexis as a hot mess is entertaining. Especially when she refuses to see what a hot mess she is. If she were to ever become a functioning adult, well, what would be the fun of that? General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
