General Hospital may not have invented the concept of a super-couple (As the World Turns’s Penny and Jeff, and Days of our Lives Julie and Doug got there first), but they are, most likely, the show casual viewers think of when it comes to couples for the ages.
General Hospital Polling
But which pairing over all these decades was a favorite with fans? Close to 3,000 viewers let us know exactly who the reigning King and Queen of Port Charles truly are:
All-Time Classic
Is it really a surprise that 71% of you went with Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis)? These two were most people’s introduction to GH, and to soaps in general. They were on the cover of People Magazine, for Pete’s sake. That’s what we call transcending the genre!
General Hospital: Fun and Fabulous
A much smaller 16% of the audience went with Frisco (Jack Wagner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner). He sang All I Need and Lady of My Heart to her. They hunted for treasure, married, and had two daughters.
Then Frisco took off to save the world, and Felicia turned to Mac (John J. York), the stalwart guy who raised Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Georgie… when both of their parents had something better to do. Still, you miss the glory days. Aztec gold, anyone?
RH Factor
In between Anna (Finola Hughes), Robert (Tristan Rogers) was married to Holly (Emma Samms). For a time, they were considered daytime’s happiest married couple. No affairs, no illegitimate kids, just lots of adventure. And sex. For almost 9%, those were the good old days.
What’s Up, Doc?
Only 4% opted for Lucy (Lynn Herring) and her Doc, Kevin (Jon Lindstrom). They were so wacky, they even warranted their own spinoff for a while. But the marriage ended up failing. Both in Port Charles. And on Port Charles.
Say What Now?
Finally, less than 1% voted for Jessie (Emily McLaughlin) and Dan. Don’t remember them? They were old. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
