Prince Nikolas Cassadine is back on General Hospital. He’s being played by Marcus Coloma, and it’s going to take some time before he wins viewers over. (The last guy who tried to take over for Tyler Christopher, one Mr. Coltin Scott, lasted a few years, but he wasn’t universally embraced.)
On the other hand, Nik’s son, Spencer, played by Nicolas Bechtel, has been polarizing from the beginning. Some embraced his precocious, sardonic, condescending approach to life. Some… didn’t. But now that Nikolas has returned, should Spencer follow suit? Almost 6,000 votes were counted!
General Hospital: Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety-Jig
Bring him home, 68% of you plead, but make sure he’s the same Spencer we remember. That means — no recasts. Sure, Spencer is abrasive and obnoxious. But that’s who he is, and that’s who you intend for him to stay.
Abrasive and obnoxious is OK, in a pre-teen (well, not OK, exactly, but expected) when you still think Laura (Genie Francis) or Lulu (Emme Rylan) might give him a firm talking to (or a swat on the behind). Abrasive and obnoxious in an adult is not what you want to watch on a daily basis.
New Man
Then again, 25% would be happy to welcome Spencer home… no longer as a brat. How about a more mature Spencer, one who doesn’t call people “townies” and actually knows what those big words he loves using actually mean? You’ve been begging for Spencer to grow up for several years now. What say we expedite the process with a nice SORAS?
Hard Pass
Then again, 8% don’t want to see Spencer back in any form. He wasn’t necessary when he was born — and caused trouble for Jax (Ingo Rademacher) — and he’s not necessary now. Let’s spend a bit more time at boarding school. Take some extra classes, Spence. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
