General Hospital fans have watched Kassius Marcil Green grow up with his mother’s raves and brags almost since the day he was born. Vanessa Marcil, who has played Brenda Barrett on and off since the 1990s, is now celebrating her son’s success… and his future.
Congratulations, Vanessa Marcil
Like so many teens in this uncertain and tumultuous year, Kassius graduated high school in a most unusual way recently — with a drive-thru graduation. When Kass found out his traditional graduation had been canceled, the General Hospital star says her son felt worse for his family missing it than for himself. His musical, Footloose, had also been canceled.
“Graduation ceremony is canceled. Kass says he is more sad for us than himself. Sad that his grandma gagoo and I didn’t get to see his musical Footloose and are not getting to watch him walk. Kass is the first man in our Mexican family to graduate from a private college prep high school and the first to go on to college,” Marcil said on Instagram.
“We are truly grateful for our family, our love for each other, our health & our community of heroes. This is all that matters… Our hearts break for the loss of celebration for the class of 2020. No words can fix the loss of life for so many and the loss of milestones for our youth. We are with you all. If you have a senior who was meant to graduate this year please comment below and DM me a pic of your senior so that we can give them a shout out of love and pride.”
This writer relates to Marcil’s words as she had to see her daughter’s musical canceled, but still got to enjoy her drive-thru graduation at the end of May.
Still, our Class of 2020, filled with strong, determined, and resilient kids who aim to change the world, look forward to college — even if they have to wear masks and social distance. Vanessa Marcil recently posted a photo of Kass, proud that he is college-bound as life goes on in our new normal. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
