The Class of 2020, whether graduating high school or college students, did not have their senior year turn out the way they expected thanks to a global pandemic that has kept people at home for their safety and canceled crowded events. That didn’t stop General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn from celebrating her college graduate her way.
Nancy Lee Grahn And Kate: A Special Graduation
Although USC did a virtual graduation, the USC-Thornton School Of Music’s Pop Program, which Kate Grahn just graduated from, had their own celebration, and Grahn created one for Kate right at home — complete with a drive-by social distanced parade.
Grahn made the celebration as fantastic as possible with Kate dressed in her commencement best ready to launch into the world of adulthood — and music — at a time when there is so much uncertainty in the world. But, the Class of 2020 is going to make a difference and Grahn is enormously proud of her beautiful and talented daughter.
“An at-home Graduation for my @kate_grahn !! Wanted to celebrate with all of you too. I’m so proud of her ❤️💛 #uscthornton @uscthornton,” Grahn shared on Instagram, along with gorgeous photos of Kate’s celebration.
Kate herself chimed in on Twitter with these words: “I know that I (like many others) didn’t get the opportunity to graduate on campus with my friends and family, but nonetheless I’m so extremely grateful for the opportunity to have attended such an amazing music program. Thank you Mom for being my biggest cheerleader and giving me the chance to study what I love.
“During these four years, I let some of my best friends and learned from teachers who I hope will be mentors for life. I laughed and cried and struggled and excelled. So many people are suffering during this pandemic and if graduating from home is the worst that happens to me I would consider myself lucky. I am so thankful.”
