General Hospital News Update: Kelly Thiebaud Mourns 100,000 American Lives Lost

Masks have become everyday “fashion,” some family members have not seen one another in months, and soaps have not been in production since March with three of them giving us classics each day. While it’s hard to remember why this is all happening, General Hospital star Kelly Thiebaud hasn’t forgotten as she thinks about the American lives lost over the last few months.

Kelly Thiebaud: Her Favorite City

“Feeling sad for all the people we lost due 2 Coronavirus. Feeling especially sad for families n my favorite city, NYC, that couldn’t get 2 their deceased loved one in time and the body was moved 2 b buried on Hart Island. I can’t imagine your pain. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss,” the actress recently tweeted.

She followed it up retweeting two articles — one about how New York City, the area hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, spent weeks struggling to bury so many dead bodies. The other is The New York Times putting faces on the numbers and telling America who these people were who are no longer with us.

Our soaps have had to deal with tragedies on a mass scale over the years, and American wars like those in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan have been featured in storylines. We don’t yet know if soaps will work anything coronavirus-related into storylines when they return, but some feel they should not as so many just want escapism at this time.

And GH has certainly been giving us some musical escapism this week with Nurses Balls past. We’ve even been treated to Thiebaud’s refreshing brand of comedy as Britt Westbourne watching the red carpet pre-ball antics with BFF Brad (Parry Shen) and some ice cream.

The actress made a return appearance to original episodes earlier this year and has said she is open to another return when the soap resumes production. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
