After more than two months of Port Charles memories in the form of classic episodes, General Hospital is back today with new story and apparently, there will be quite a few surprises right from the start.
Frank Valentini: Expect Shockers
“The very first few seconds of the show, I think, will blow a lot of the audience’s mind because there’s a big surprise that we inserted in,” Executive Producer Frank Valentini told ABC 7 Los Angeles. “And there is a bang and a surprise and a twist and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Valentini admits that it wasn’t easy getting back into production, but they did have a lot of time to plan how to do it right. “A lot of fans were, like, ‘When are you coming back? When are you coming back?’ It took that long to establish the protocols and to think through every step of the production process,” he said.
Before anyone could walk on the set, they had to be tested for COVID-19 and testing will continue on a regular basis for the foreseeable future. Of course, masks also have to be worn on set except when the cameras start rolling. As for love scenes, Valentini says fans will just have to leave “a lot more to the imagination.”
Interestingly enough, ABC 7 reports that there will indeed be a Nurses Ball later this month. We are not sure how the soap plans to film large group scenes like that but we assume much of the singing will have to be pre-recorded as singing is considered dangerous due to the number of droplets released during a song that could contain the virus.
It will be interesting to see how things work but in the meantime, we are excited to see our favorite characters continue their lives. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
