When we last saw General Hospital at the end of May, the soap had aired weeks of episodes filled with flashbacks to make its stockpile last longer after being forced to shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Soap Hub has heard that the show was going back into production this week and that seems to now be confirmed with official teasers for what’s coming up on Monday, August 3.
The soap apparently picks up right where it left off at Wiley’s custody hearing and we finally learn what Nina (Cynthia Watros) will say. Does she see the necklace in Nelle’s lap? Will she testify for Nelle (Chloe Lanier) or against her? And, if she does take Nelle’s side, how will Carly react?
Meanwhile, we also learn a little more about Brando (Johnny Wactor). How will this affect his dynamic with all those Davis girls? It’s exciting that your Port Charles faves will be back with all-new story — as they navigate a new normal and stay safe on the set.
General Hospital is the third soap to return to the set this summer. The Bold and the Beautiful started taping weeks ago and airing new episodes this past Monday, while The Young and the Restless has also been back for about two weeks. However, there is no official word when new shows will air. Days of our Lives, which has enough episodes to last through October, plans to return to production on September 1.
All television and film productions have stringent safety protocols all cast and crew members must follow, including being in a mask unless a performer is on camera. With Los Angeles County seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases, Hollywood hopes that if another shutdown happens, production can continue as long as it’s done safely. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
