General Hospital star Maurice Benard is known for his menagerie of animals. The actor doesn’t just own your traditional dogs and cats, but he also owns some unusual pets, including a goat and several exotic birds.
Maurice Benard And His Menagerie
During a time when Benard has spent months sheltering in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, the actor and his animals have become closer than ever and they keep him company. Recently, he took to Instagram to post a video of himself with one of his parrots as they had a discussion about social distancing.
The parrot was keeping its distance from Benard, but the actor wondered if his pet might be lonely during this new life. “What is it like to be quarantined?” he asks the parrot. “Is there a big difference? I mean, you’re still in the cage.”
Then, he turns to the camera and explains. “What we do is we have the cages six feet apart. Social distancing.”
He then turns back to his parrot and asks, “Do you miss your friends?… Do you want the cages closer?” The parrot kept standing on one foot and then Maurice Benard wondered if each one-footer meant “yes” until his friend just flew away to live its life in a beautiful open space room the actor has made into an animal-friendly room.
Back In Port Charles
We can’t picture Sonny with a menagerie on GH as he has many other things to concern himself with. Currently, one of those things is his father Mike’s (Max Gail) failing health as he reaches end-stage Alzheimer’s. While Carly (Laura Wright) has been helping out on the Wiley custody front, she is finally there for Sonny today to help him decide what to do about Mike’s end-of-life care. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
