Our favorite soap stars spent months away from the set this year as the coronavirus pandemic seemingly took over the world. However, three out of four soaps have been back taping for over a month, and General Hospital star Maurice Benard now sees how lucky he is.
“When you’ve worked at the same job for 27 years, and you think the grass is greener. All it takes is Coronavirus to make you eat humble pie,” Benard posted to Instagram, alongside a little video expressing his feelings.
“I gotta say it’s been a great month at work. I think you guys — you GH fans — I even get emotional talking about it. I did some stuff today that was very emotional. I know you guys are going to be happy. Thank you for hanging in. I know you’ve been hanging in for 57 years, so…I don’t have to thank you. Wait till you see what’s coming up. I am so thankful for everybody. Actors, Frank [Valentini, Executive Producer], crew, even Steve,” he said with a grin.
Benard even thanked a familiar list of people as he tagged them in his post. They include the following General Hospital star: Josh Swickard (Chase), Ingo Rademacher (Jax), Laura Wright (Carly), Chad Duell (Michael), Real Andrews (Taggert), Dominic Zamprogna (Dante), and even Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan). He also thanked his son, Joshua Benard, who played a young Sonny in a flashback episode well over a year ago. With that list of actors, it makes us wonder who we might see on our screens soon who we have not seen in quite a while.
Maurice Benard admitted that quarantine time was a little difficult but he made the best of it with his family, telling Soap Hub he’d get up each day before everyone else to have time for himself. Still, he was very anxious to get back to work and now he’s there and we couldn’t be happier. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
