General Hospital News: Maurice Benard Celebrates His 30th Anniversary

General Hospital star Maurice Benard marked an amazing milestone this week and did it with a very special public message to his wife, Paula, that will melt your heart.

The actor took to Instagram to tell us all how he feels about Paula and all the years they have been together and the woman herself put in her own video appearance that shows the bond between the pair.

“Today happens to be my 30th wedding anniversary,” Benard said yesterday in an Instagram video. “To my beautiful wife — and I say it has been an incredible 30 years — I mean, I don’t know what I would have done without her to be honest with you.”

As Benard was looking for the right words to say, Paula snuck up behind him, put her arms around him, and asked why they can’t count the first five years they were together. She is told it’s because they weren’t married.

During the 30 years they have been married, the pair have raised four children together — daughters Cailey, Cassidy, and Heather, as well as son, Joshua. You might recall that Joshua played a young Sonny last year as the character struggled to come to terms with his mob beginnings.

Paula has also been the actor’s professional manager and the woman guiding him through his career, which includes a memoir, Nothing General About It, published this past spring. She rarely puts in an appearance in Benard’s videos but did so this time for the occasion of their anniversary.
