General Hospital star Emme Rylan has revealed a shocking loss. Her sister, Lara Behrens, has lost her battle with cancer and passed away.
In January of last year, Rylan revealed her sister’s illness by asking for help via a Go Fund Me page. Lara had just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer just months prior after undergoing an MRI for back pain.
The cancer quickly spread to various abdominal organs and was deemed incurable, although Lara underwent treatment to extend her life at a hospital in Pennsylvania. This morning, Rylan posted that her sister is gone.
“My beautiful sister Lara is now an angel in heaven and I know that her precious Riley was waiting for her at the gates. 💕 I want to thank everyone that donated to her Go Fund Me page 2 years ago. The money raised made it possible for her to live in comfort in her home and I will be forever grateful for that.”
On her sister’s Go Fund Me page, Lara’s attitude at the time was described as upbeat and positive. “Throughout this ordeal, Lara has shown remarkable strength and resilience. Certainly, there have been tears, but she has been far more concerned with how this news is affecting her family and friends than she has been with herself.
“She has an upbeat positive attitude and is determined to fight the cancer with everything she has. Her trademark hilarious sense of humor, youthful spirit, and deep compassion for others remain on full display all the time and she is still as fun as ever to be around. She isn’t going to let cancer take away her joy and is determined not to allow it to define her life.”
Soap Hub sends condolences to Rylan and her entire family during this difficult and sad time. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
