General Hospital is looking at another temporary recast. Amanda Setton is taking a break from her role as Brook Lynn Ashton. Rather than leave town, the character will temporarily be recast.
Amanda Setton Surprisingly On Break
Daytime Confidential broke the news that Setton is out on maternity leave. No word yet on who will be taking over the role. Setton made her GH debut last November. She was familiar to soap fans from her run as Kim Andrews on One Life to Live. She first arrived in Llanview in 2009 and played Kim until late 2011 just before the iconic series left the airwaves.
While on OLTL, Setton also recurred on The CW series Gossip Girl as Penelope Shafai. Her other night-time credits include guest-starring or series regular roles on Beauty and the Beast, Hawaii Five-O, The Crazy Ones, and The Mindy Project. Since returning to PC, Brook Lynn has sparred both verbally and physically with rival Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan). It’s possible we’ll see Brook Lynn interact more with her ex-flame Dante now that Dominic Zamprogna is back at GH.
Previously, Brook Lynn figured out that Julian (William deVry) knew his grandson Wiley (Erik and Theo Olson) was actually Michael (Chad Duell) and Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) child. She leveraged that knowledge to get Julian to help her get out of a music contract. Brook Lynn briefly worked as a receptionist at the Quartermaine family business ELQ. In addition to a past fling with Dante, Brook Lynn had also had a romantic past with Dustin (Mark Lawson).
Born in New York City, Setton grew up in Great Neck. She showed an early interest in theater as president of her high school drama club. She majored in theater at Ithaca College and also studied at The Actor’s Workshop of Ithaca. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
