General Hospital News: A New-Old Jason Morgan Awaits

Now that Jason’s memories are flooding back, many fans expect him to pick up right here he left off in 2012. However, that wouldn’t make logical sense considering what the characters has gone through over the last four years and the “General Hospital” writers knows it.

Ever since Jake Doe learned he was Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) last fall, he’s fought the facts he knows about the man. He hated knowing he was a killer and even frightened himself with his own violent instincts of late. With memories now at the forefront of his brain, he’ll have to come accept who he once was.

“Jason will have to come to terms with that past,” Head Writer Jean Passanante told TV Line. “But remembering doesn’t mean he will suddenly revert to the man he was before he was presumed dead.”

So, what does that all mean for Jason and Sam (Kelly Monaco)? Even without memories, the writers made it clear that Jason’s connection with Sam was stronger than the connections he had with other core people in his life. According to TV Line, the memories will just work to make them a stronger couple.

“Although they’re already together as a couple, the memories of how they came together and what they’ve been through, both good and bad, give him a deeper sense of their relationship,” Passanante told TV Line. “Remembering everything gives him the history he felt but couldn’t fully understand until now.”

Of course, he still has to deal with one man from his past–the man he both fought and softened to as his memories emerged yesterday. Sonny (Maurice Benard) was with Jason Morgan from “birth” and that connection needs to be explored. The writers explained to TV Line they definitely plan to delve into Sonny and Jason’s relationship–something clearly foreshadowed with their confrontations over the last few weeks.

It makes sense that Jason can’t be the same man who disappeared off the pier nearly four years ago. Too much has happened, plus another actor has put his mark on the role. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t go along for the ride and see what this newly emerged Jason Morgan brings.
