As previously reported, Amanda Setton is on maternity leave and taking a temporary break from her role as Brook Lynn on General Hospital. Now, the actress is sharing the news of who’s going to replace her for the time being.
Amanda Setton: She Will Be Back
Soap Opera Digest broke the news that Briana Lane (Switched at Birth) is stepping into the part of Lois (Rena Sofer) and Ned’s (Wally Kurth) daughter, named after the New York City borough where Lois was raised. “Despite being really excited and eager to jump back into GH, due to the many unknowns with COVID and expectant mothers, it was advised for us to wait it out,” Setton explains. (So, it looks like some scenes with Brook Lynn from earlier this week were taped pre-COVID.)
“I love being a part of the GH family,” she adds. “It’s not only a privilege to be a part of such a special legacy but it’s downright fun! From the crew to the writers and executives and of course my fellow castmates, I have missed and will continue to miss my interactions and collaboration will all of them during this time.”
Newcomer Lane is not a total stranger to soaps. Her first credit was being “Hope’s Double” on Days of our Lives in 2006. Now, she’s stepping into the shoes of another strong daytime character. “Brook Lynn is a fierce, feisty, flawed, and lovable character — with a heart of gold,” adds Setton.
Setton wishes her temporary fill-in all the best. “I can’t wait to see what Briana brings to the character!” Setton enthuses. “I’m sure she will do an incredible job and will bring her own interpretations to this fun and complex character! I’ll be watching and rooting for her all the way!” General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
