Considering the number of pregnancies on soaps, it’s amazing how few kids there actually are. They’re usually “upstairs,” or at “boarding school.”
On General Hospital, Liz (Rebecca Herbst) can just take off on a whim, without worrying about sitters for Cameron, Jake, and Aiden (she just vaguely mumbles, “Gram,”).
Whenever Carly (Laura Wright) needs to have a private argument with Sonny (Maurice Benard), Josslyn is conveniently in Australia, visiting her dad.
Plus, Spencer’s crush on Emma hit a snag when his dad died and her parents left town. But would you like for that to change? Do you want to see more of PC’s youngest generation?
Kids Should Be Seen AND Heard!
Viewers hate dropped storylines, even if it’s a case of puppy-love. Spencer (Nicholas Bechtel) courted Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) with expensive gifts and an even more expansive vocabulary, while she only had eyes for Cam (Michael Leone). So… what’s up with that?
Is Jake (Hudson West) still suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder? What’s new with Joss (Eden McCoy)? For 43% of you, those stories are just as compelling — maybe even more so — than the ongoing car-bomb saga, Nelle’s murky plot, and Alexis’s drunken stupor.
Make It Storyline Driven!
Kids are OK… as long as 38% of fans can see them with their parents. How about bringing little Georgie back to Maxie (Kirsten Storms)? Let’s see Avery with Ava (Maura West). In other words, only if the storyline calls for it.
Naptime
The canvas is crowded enough as it is, which means 18% of you would rather focus on the grown ups than see those who can barely speak clearly (excluding Sonny mumbling) hogging airtime. Until these kids can drive, drink, fall in love, and, most importantly, scheme on an adult level, they should remain invisible.
