It’s about time General Hospital (GH) started featuring real-life buddies Roger Howarth and Michael Easton in some scenes together, playing off their easy and familiar rapport.

Both actors became friends during their time on One Life to Live years ago and remain close off screen, often making personal appearances together and performing in a small musical act.

They’ve barely interacted in Port Charles since Howarth morphed into Franco from Todd Manning, and Easton morphed first into Silas and then into Finn from John McBain.

It all started a few weeks ago, when Finn mysteriously decided to ask co-worker Franco if he wanted a bagel. Franco found this unusual, but had no problem with the food.

We hoped that was the start of something more, and we were right. Let’s just hope this week wasn’t the middle and end.

On Monday and Tuesday, the pair showed they definitely have chemistry, and that Franco may make a new reluctant buddy.

He gained Drew as a practical BFF earlier this year, but at least they had a history as foster brothers when they were young. Finn and Franco have no history together (unless you count Finn’s other PC alias, Silas, being Kiki’s bio dad after Franco spent years thinking Kiki was his), but they can develop a future.

Perhaps they can even be enemies in the same vein as Finn and Obrecht. After all, it was Obrecht who brought them together this week when young Wyatt ran to his art therapist with the news that a scary old lady is holding a man hostage in the woods.

That scary lady is Obrecht (Franco’s bud) and the two men quickly deduced that she might be holding Peter August hostage. Of course, Nina had already moved him when they got to the cabin, but Finn is still suspicious.

Franco did warn Obrecht behind Finn’s back, which could put the men at odds, but still put the two actors in more scenes together,

GH attempted to have actual OLTL characters on the canvas soon after the show was canceled, but a lawsuit got in the way. Over the past year, we’ve been treated to some actual Nora Buchanan, but we’ll take these OLTL actors together any way we can get them.

Yes, that does include James DePaiva as sexual predator Dr. Bensch. The character may be horrible, but at least we get a little bit of Max Holden whenever he’s around.

So cheers to Llanview, and cheers to a lot more Franco and Finn… we hope.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
