Liesl may have finally figured out who it was that shoved her from the deck of the Haunted Star — it was lab technician Brad whom Liesl had shoved from the Wyndemere parapet so now their even — but actress Kathleen Gati certainly has another reason to celebrate.
That’s because she was born on August 13, 1957, in Montreal, Canada, meaning that she is turning 62 years old today! Gati began performing at the tender age of three and at 20 she made the monumental decision to retire her ballet slippers and move to New York to pursue a full-time acting career.
She appeared in a number of plays performed both on and off-Broadway and her first film role was a nonspeaking extra in the exploitation revenge thriller Ms. 45. She had a speaking part in the movie Forever, Lulu, which marked Alec Baldwin’s theatrical debut.
Her television credits include guest appearances on such primetime hits as The Practice, NYPD Blue, Cold Case ER, and Strong Medicine. From 1989 to 1990 she could be seen playing the nasty Taffy Winslow on the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children.
But it is, of course, the role of Dr. Liesl Obrecht for which Gati is probably most well known. The character was only meant for a two to three-episode arc but Gati so impressed the writers and producers that they continued to develop the camera and eventually built a family unit around her.
