General Hospital Comings and Goings: Trouble Returns In Many Forms

Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future? Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day-player roles?

General Hospital C&G News

Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of March 15, 2021
Fret not Roger Howarth fans. Despite Franco being shot “dead” last week, the actor’s exit from the soap is only temporary. Howarth has portrayed the character since 2013, after previously playing Todd Manning on the soap; a role he originated on One Life to Live.

After over a year away from GH, Amanda Setton returns to the canvas as Brook Lynn Quartermaine, this week. The character was last on-screen in November of 2020, at which point Briana Lane was temporarily playing her.

Also back this week after an even longer absence is Chad Brannon as Zander Smith. Brannon portrayed Zander from 2000 to 2004. He’ll share scenes with William Lipton, who plays his son Cameron Webber.

Bonnie Burroughs is popping back in as Gladys Corbin. Look for the character to pay a visit to her son, Brando (Johnny Wactor).

Please note that air dates may be subject to change.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine, to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.

Bringing the Drama

More than five decades of gripping drama as well as love in the afternoon have kept this ABC daytime soap on the air and winning Daytime Emmys. It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). GH airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for air times.
