The week of October 5, 2020

Kim Delaney bows in the role of Jackie Templeton, this week. The character, originally portrayed by Demi Moore from 1982 to 1984, is an old flame of Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).

Delaney is known for her roles in the primetime series NYPD Blue (as Det. Diane Russell) and Army Wives (as Claudia Joy Holden), among others. She first rose to daytime fame as Jenny Gardner on All My Children from 1981 to 1984.

Bonnie Burroughs will be heading back to Port Charles as Brando’s (Johnny Wactor) mother, Gladys Corbin, later this month. She last aired in February.

After a five-month break, Kathleen Gati is back for another run as Dr. Leisl Obrecht, as the character looks to bring down Peter August (Wes Ramsey).

Also, Emma Samms popped back in as the presumed dead Holly. Due to travel restrictions, the actress has been shooting her scenes in England.

Meanwhile, two actors have wrapped up short guest stints: David S. Lee, who played Monte Carlo casino owner Winston Ridge, and Nathan Parsons, who portrayed Holly’s son Ethan Lovett.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running drama is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running soap, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.

The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) gripping romance and wedding, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH knows how to please their viewers.

Bringing the Drama

More than five decades of gripping drama has kept the daytime sudser on the air as other soap operas were axed. It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). GH airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for air times.
