Nina Reeves – from put-upon heiress to obsessed ex; from baby-snatcher to savvy businesswoman.

Who Is Nina Reeves?

Nina Addison Reeves is the daughter of Madeline Westbourne (father unknown), the older (adoptive) sister of James Nathan West, and the niece of Liesl Obrecht.

Wealthy in her own right – the result of a previously established trust fund – Nina wed up-and-coming oncologist Silas Clay, whom Madeline strongly disapproved of. And though her objections had been made merely because she opinioned him to be a golddigger, Madeline was proven correct when Silas began cheating on Nina with Ava Jerome.

When Nina announced that she was expecting Silas’s child, Madeline injected her with a syringe full of anti-depressants in the hopes of inducing a miscarriage but the overdose resulted in Nina lapsing into a prolonged vegetative state.

Rack and Ruin
Nina would remain unconscious for over 20 years. Madeline eventually had her daughter declared legally dead so she could pilfer from the trust fund while stashing Nina in a less expensive care facility.

To everyone’s surprise, and honest consternation, Nina suddenly awoke in 2014. To Madeline, it meant the reveal of her machinations. For Silas, it meant confronting the sins of his past and the halting of his budding romance with Sam Morgan. In fact, the only person happy to see Nina was Nathan – now decades older than she remembered him.

Though her rage threatened to erupt at any moment, Nina managed to stifle herself and instead present a calm, forgiving façade. She assured Silas that she forgave him his adultery and championed his future with Sam – heck, she even played nice with Ava!

But, when her enemies turned their backs, she plotted. In time, she wormed her way into Silas’s life and eventually separated him and Sam. However, her victory was short-lived. When Silas learned of her manipulations, he threw her out.

In response, Nina drugged a pregnant Ava with pills that would induce labor and then absconded with the newborn. When caught, she pled insanity and was sent to Shadybrook where she was menaced by Franco Baldwin’s mother, Heather Webber.

For a while, Nina found contentment with Franco but frequent misunderstandings and one argument too many led Nina to fall for the slick and shady Ric Lansing. Their marriage was based on lies and arranged by Madeline, whom Ric was actually having an affair with. Together, they planned to bilk Nina out of her fortune but Madeline’s eventual arrest for Silas’s murder scuttled that.

Nina Reeves Strikes Out On Her Own

After obtaining a divorce, Nina approached Julian Jerome and convinced him to hire her as Editor-in-Chief of Crimson – unbeknownst to her however was Julian’s assumption that she would run the venture into the ground and he could profit from the resulting bankruptcy.

However, Nina’s innate business savvy paid dividends and the magazine’s circulation rose to new heights. Her personal life also saw an upturn – though it would be short-lived. She was romanced by Valentin Cassadine but his obsession with Anna Devane and involvement in shady dealings proved bothersome. Even more devastating, she would lose her beloved Jay (aka, Nathan) in a shootout with his biological father, Faison.

Nina and Valentin would eventually reunite though they would break up and make up on multiple occasions. The final straw came when Nina learned that he had worked with Sasha Gilmore to perpetrate the fraud that she was the long-lost child Nina had birthed during her time in the coma.

Nina coldly agreed to Valentin’s idea that they wed, and then castigated him for his misdeed in front of the entire assemblage. In the aftermath of the split, Nina turned to Jasper “Jax” Jacks, Crimson’s newest figurehead.
