Add the annual General Hospital Fan Club Weekend to the list of daytime events that are being rescheduled due to the coronavirus crisis. Originally set for July 30 through August 3, the fan meet-and-greet with the show’s actors is being moved to October.
A Change For General Hospital Fans
The GH Fan Club’s President, Debbie Morris, announced the news in a letter that can be found on the GHFCW website.
The letter reads: “Good Evening everyone, I know you have been waiting for an announcement about GHFCW and I said June 1st [is when you’d receive one] but I have one answer for you now.
“I have talked it over with TeamGHFCW and many other folks and we have decided to move the event weekend to October 15th-19th.
“Currently this is all we have for you. There are a total of 7 people working at the Embassy Suites right now and I was lucky to find one just to secure the date change. But there is no one currently there to help me with room blocks, changes of any kind other than the date change.
“Due to the COVID-19 issue, I feel this is the right thing to do. I am not putting my own life in danger and I certainly am not going to put one of yours in danger. I just do not feel that the July time slot will work for any of us. Maybe I am not as optimistic as other folks are, but I must think safety first for everyone involved.
“We will continue to work on all aspects of the weekend an[d] as we get answers, when we get answers you will be the first to know. Please remember this is not the first thing on folks’ mind[s] right now so getting in touch with many is a difficult challenge. At this time the actors do not even know when they will return to work so work with me here folks.”
Morris’ note, which can be read in its entirety here, concludes by thanking fans for their patience. “There are no fans like GH fans,” she added. “Loyal, supportive and just awesome!” Soap Hub will bring details on the rescheduled GHFCW as details become available. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
