General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful Ratings Wins

Over a month ago, General Hospital started a ratings streak that doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. However, another soap is closing in fast and managed to tie the ABC mainstay for the No. 2 spot.

According to the ratings for the week ending, January 19, The Young and the Restless was the top-rated drama in Women viewers aged 18-49 (AKA W18-49) with a 0.48 rating. GH came in second with a 0.43 rating but for this time period, GH shared its second-place finish with CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful, which also scored a 0.43 rating. DAYS was in fourth place with 0.35.

What was going on in Port Charles that week? Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason (Steve Burton) worked out a deal with Robert (Tristan Rogers) to keep her out of jail for good. Sasha (Sofia Mattsson), Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and Lucy (Lynn Herring) urged Nina (Cynthia Watros) to work with them on a Deception relaunch.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Julian (William deVry) had a confrontation. Laura (Genie Francis) put on her mayoral hat to talk to Ned (Wally Kurth) and Tracy (Jane Elliot) about cleaning up the waterfront.

One of the biggest moments from last week was Nelle (Chloe Lanier) revealed herself not only being paroled from prison but also as Shiloh’s (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) widow and the owner of the late Oscar’s (Garren Stitt) ELQ tock. After spending quite a while out of everyone’s hair, Nelle is back with a vengeance!

What did BB do to give GH a run for its money in the ratings race? Flo (Katrina Bowden) returned to town, which has thrown a wrench into Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and Sally’s (Courtney Hope) relationship.

Also, Brooke stood firm against Shauna (Denise Richards) and Quinn (Rena Sofer), accusing them of trying to interfere in her marriage to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times for each.
