Jonathan Jackson, formerly General Hospital’s Lucky Spencer, spent the early hours of his Saint Patrick’s Day putting together a special recitation of The Breastplate of Saint Patrick, an ancient prayer for protection that’s attributed to one of Ireland’s most beloved patron saints.
Jackson posted his video to Instagram, along with a message that reads in part, “It’s surreal to be celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day, now living in Ireland…Much love to all!”
The former Daytime Emmy Award winner has been living in Ireland since September 2020 – a move instigated by Jackson’s desire to help assure the establishment of a new Orthodox monastery.
On the subject of his relocation and mission, Jackson, a convert to the Orthodox faith, has said, “I humbly say it, it’s worth living Orthodoxy here in Ireland. And one of the most important ways you can do it is to meet the monastery. Monasteries are of vital importance. It simply provides healing.”
Though it’s been some six years since the actor last assumed the part of Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) charmful offspring, he and the character both remain ever forefront in viewers’ thoughts.
Jackson made his GH debut on October 29, 1993, and he remained a vital part of the canvas – especially in light of his pairing opposite Rebecca Herbst’s Elizabeth Webber – until May 1999. He eventually returned to the soap for two subsequent stints: October 2009 – December 2011 and the summer of 2015. In the interim, the role had been helmed by both Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan.
Jackson eventually gained a whole new legion of fans thanks to his starring turn as musician Avery Aaron Barkley on the ABC primetime serial Nashville.
