Ava’s returned to Port Charles society, but she still has some scars as a result of last year’s fire and she won’t feel whole until they are gone. That’s why General Hospital fans will not want to miss next Wednesday’s episode.
Expect a powerhouse performance by Maura West as Ava’s wounds — both external and internal — are examined!
“It’s a real must-see day,” Executive Producer Frank Valentini tells Soap Hub. “It’s one of those days that the audience will get [especially] excited about. It will plumb the depth of the Ava psyche and the Ava character [in a way we haven’t seen] in the six years that she’s been on the show.”
Ava’s done some horrible things during her run in Port Charles and thanks to the show’s writing team and the Emmy-winning West, viewers still have managed to find a way to care for her.
“It all begins and ends in the writing and with Maura’s performance because Maura likes Ava, Maura loves Ava, and she’s invested in her,” Valentini says.
“She’s constantly trying to find ways to humanize this character who is very human in her faults. We’re asking viewers to invest with their time in watching and seeing what Ava’s doing and the payoff is to get to know and be satisfied by this character.”
Ava won’t be the only character in the episode. Watch for her to be joined by Kiki (Hayley Erin), Griffin (Matt Cohen), and others.
“I don’t want to ruin it,” says Valentini, “and I haven’t talked to anyone else about this. It’s a very special episode that’s not just about Ava, but it’s a real tour-de-force [by Maura].”
