Having served a typical General Hospital three-minute prison sentence, Alexis is on her way home from the big house. Will the split seconds she spent behind bars and seeing what happens to all those clients she fails to defend, change how Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) goes through life from now on? What the viewers think will happen.
General Hospital Polling: St. Alexis
Alexis already has a high opinion of herself, and now 83% of you believe she’ll be even more inclined to see herself in savior mode. Now that Alexis has seen how awful prison can be, she will fight even harder to make sure that even those who are guilty – like her – don’t have to serve hardly any time at all – like her.
Short Term Benefits
A much smaller 13% of the audience agrees but expects the effects to last for only a short time. After all, how many times have you heard Alexis proclaim what a strong woman she is, who has no need for a man – then get all giggly and tongue-tied at the sight of Julian’s (William deVry’s) abs or Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) dimples? And you’ve also heard her promise not to judge her daughter’s choices. But she still does. Why should this vow be any different?
Rebound
And then there are the cynical 4% who expect Alexis to revert to type the minute that cell door clangs shut behind her for the final time. She’ll be back to judging people, she’ll be back to feeling superior, and she’ll be back to committing crimes and bad judgment calls, then blaming it on her drinking or her sad childhood. Maybe a longer sentence would have scared her straight. This way, all she learned was that you can try to kill somebody – and barely serve any time for it. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
