Soaps are all about on-screen intrigue, but, sadly, sometimes there’s off-screen drama, too! A recent report reveals that former ABC Daytime actress Jessica Morris severely bit into the lip of an ex-ABC Daytime hunk! (Ouch!)
Jessica Morris: A Real-Life Soap Opera
TMZ reports that Jessica Morris (ex-Jenn, One Life to Live) is facing legal repercussions for “taking a bite out of her married boyfriend’s (Hills) face.” The two got into a fight back in May and, during the altercation, Morris allegedly bit part of Hillis’ lip “almost all the way off!”
Hillis was an original cast member on ABC sudser Port Charles, which debuted in 1997. He brought his intern character, Dr. Jake Marshak, over to General Hospital on occasion including for a Nurses Ball storyline in which Jake met his untimely end.
Morris turned herself in to authorities earlier in September after she was charged with one count of “felony domestic violence with great bodily injury.”
Hillis shared with TMZ that the two fought over “relationship issues.” The former Port Charles intern married former Dancing With the Stars pro Elena Grineko in 2012. They have two children.
Hillis, who says he didn’t fight back, went to a hospital where a nurse contacted authorities. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated, which led to Morris being charged. It took 25 stitches to correct the damage done to Hillis’ lip.
Anthony Salerno, Morris’ attorney, says his client has no comment at this time, but says, “This situation is difficult for everyone involved, and is complicated.”
Morris has made no specific public comment but did appear to indirectly address the situation on her Instagram page.
“It can be difficult to let go of the past but hopefully one can dust themselves off, learn from their mistakes, get back on that horse & become a much better version of themselves,” the actress posted. Currently, Morris is shooting season 2 of the popular web series Beacon Hill on location in Massachusetts.
Grineko addressed her status with Hillis on social media. “Unfortunately, Rib and I separating after 11 years together,” she wrote. “I wanted people to know so there is no gossip around it. My best friends know the true reasons why, which I will keep private from social media.
“But I felt the urge since we leave [sic] in social media world for people to know. We have amazing boys together and will do everything to keep them happy that is what’s the most important. All the rest will pass.”
Hillis told TMZ that he’d prefer for everyone to just “heal and get on with their lives.” He added he hasn’t spoken to Morris since the night the incident occurred, but he hopes she gets the help she needs. In addition to both appearing on ABC soaps, Hillis and Morris acted in a few movies together including Lifetime’s The Wrong Man.
