Former One Life to Live Star Pamela Payton-Wright Passes Away

Pamela Payton-Wright who played Addie Cramer on One Life to Live for many years has passed away at the age of 78.

The award-winning actress has appeared on the Broadway stage during the course of her career. Playbill reports that the actress died on December 14.

Born on November 1, 1941, Payton-Wright graduated from both Birmingham-Southern College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. At the latter, she earned the Special Medal and the Edmund Gray Prize for High Comedy. Crowned Miss Tuscaloosa in 1981 and a finalist in the Miss Alabama contest, her talent was performing all the characters from Peter Pan.

She enjoyed a run on Broadway in productions including The Show Off, Exit the King, The Crucible, The Glass Menagerie, Romeo and Juliet, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Night of the Iguana, and Garden District. Her last Broadway appearance was in 2003 as a replacement in the role of Mary Tyrone in Eugene O’Neill’s Long Days Journey Into Night.

In 1979, Payton-Wright portrayed the part of Hazel Parker on Another World. She’s best known to soap fans as Agatha “Addie” Cramer, sister of Dorian (Robin Strasser) and mother of Blair (Kassie DePaiva).

Payton-Wright is survived by her son, Oliver Dickon Hedley Butler and his wife Cynthia Flowers, a brother Gordon Trafford Payton Wright, sisters Brenda Payton-Wright Davies and Barbara Payton-Wright Quackenbush, and nephews Payton David Quackenbush and Peter Wright Quackenbush.
