It’s no secret that the entertainment business can be rough on a marriage, with reports of celebrities splitting up happening all the time. However, former All My Children star Cameron Mathison and wife Vanessa have defied the odds and are celebrating their 18th anniversary.
Congratulations, Cameron Mathison
On his Instagram, the former Ryan Lavery sent a special greeting to his wife and noted the long-lasting achievement is not lost on him.
“In the entertainment business it’s like dog years… you multiply by 7,” he wrote. “Vanessa you are my best friend, my travel partner, my Vajrayogini, and the most loving and supportive wife I could ever imagine. We’ve been through some ups and downs through the years, but it definitely made us stronger. So grateful for you in so many ways.”
The couple, who were married on July 27 in 2002, share children Lucas and Leila. Mathison posted a cute photo of him and Vanessa on the ski slopes taken two years prior to the big day — and a trip that forever changed the course of their lives.
“This photo was taken in Squaw Valley ski resort in 2000,” he shared. “We were dating and living on separate coasts and Vanessa told me she was taking a month off work to ski around the country! I was blown away… and met her on her trip and we fell in love.”
The actor actually proposed to his model girlfriend on the summit of Vail Mountain in Colorado, so skiing has been a big part of their romantic lives together.
It was late last year when the Emmy-nominated actor, now hosting Home and Family on the Hallmark Channel, shared the news that he had kidney cancer. Thankfully, Mathison’s doing well now and is cancer-free.
Back in June, Mathison told Soap Hub that he was “feeling good. I’m taking even better care of myself. I have more energy. I’m feeling better than I have in a long time.”
