There is no nice way to say this: General Hospital’s (GH) Alexis is a permanent loser in love – and it’s mostly her fault.
Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) got a precocious head-start on making terrible choices when she was 16 years old, snuck into a bar, and ended up having unprotected sex with a hot guy in a car.
This led to her first pregnancy, and a daughter, Sam (Kelly Monaco), who she ended up surrendering for adoption.
There were probably a ton of horrible relationships before she arrived in Port Charles, and since then, we’ve watched Alexis become a giggling, juvenile, weak-in-the-knees bubble-head around men.
They include mobster, Sonny (Maurice Benard) – daughter number two, Kristina – his equally scummy brother, Ric – daughter number three, Molly – and enemy mobster, Julian (William deVry), the guy from that long-ago car encounter.
Alexis’ latest rejection came from Finn (Michael Easton), a mopey mumbler who isn’t even sure how he feels about Anna (Finola Hughes), much less over Hayden (Rebecca Budig), the one who got away while pregnant with his child.
Do you feel sorry for Alexis and her non-stop heartache? Here’s what almost 9,000 had to say:
Pretty Pathetic
Yeah, 60% of you sigh, we do. It’s like Alexis never, ever learns. Not even when the guy she loves tries to kill her.
For most women, that would be the first – and last – clue. But Alexis keeps insisting she wants to see the best in everyone. When what she’s really doing is refusing to admit how she feels incomplete without a man.
Just Desserts
No, 40% of the audience counters. It’s impossible to feel sorry for Alexis when she’s such a hypocrite.
She bangs the drum of strong independent women who need a man about as much as a fish needs a bicycle, and yet throws herself at any guy who pays a modicum of attention to her. She deserves what she gets.
