Maurice Benard on General Hospital
Super-popular “General Hospital” star Maurice Benard answered questions from fans that reveal he shares some of the positive qualities of his on-screen alter-ego, Sonny Corinthos!
1. Bernard has a close relationship with Steve Burton (ex Jason Morgan).
“I talked to him just yesterday. He’s my brother,” Benard told ABC Soaps In Depth.
2. Benard has a soft spot for the women in his life, just as Sonny dotes on those in his life, such as Carly (Laura Wright), Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth), and Avery. Bernard shares a most special bond with one of his on-screen daughters. His “favorite leading lady” is baby Avery, portrayed by twins Ava and Grace Scarola.
3. One of the things Benard likes doing most aside from performing and being with loved ones is boxing! Sonny certainly gains many physical and mental benefits from the time he spends pummeling a punching bag at Volonino’s Gym in Port Charles!
4. Both Benard’s and Sonny’s lives have seen their shares of ups and downs, tumult and joy. A fan asked Benard how he conveys the emotions required by a scene. His response was illuminating.
“I usually go to my own life,” the actor replied!
5. Another fan asked Benard where he sees Sonny going next. The actor responded with Sonny-like confidence, “I think I’ve done it all.”
