Ryan Carnes currently plays Lucas Jones on General Hospital, but the actor has appeared on other shows over the years including Desperate Housewives, CSI: Miami, Doctor Who, Bones, and NCIS.
Along with his television work, Carnes has also had roles in movies such as Letters from Iwo Jima and Eating Out. From where he went to college to his first TV show, here are five fast facts you about the General Hospital actor.
In The Beginning
Carnes was born on November 21 in Pittsfield, Illinois. He is also an only child. He ended up attending Duke University for a couple of years before he moved out to Los Angeles to pursue acting as a career.
Double Threat
While he was attending Duke, Carnes was a member of DUMB — Duke University Marching Band. Carnes is a very accomplished drummer and has been playing for over 15 years. In fact, he collaborates with other artists and musicians frequently.
He’s Got Game
Prior to getting a role on television, Carnes was featured in a national campaign for Nintendo in 2003. He was in both the print ads and commercials.
First TV Role
Carnes’s first television acting job came in 2004 when he was cast as Bobbie’s (Jacklyn Zeman) adopted son, Lucas Jones, on GH. He was on the show for a year, but decided to leave to pursue other projects. He then returned to the show in 2014, again in 2019 and has stayed on in a recurring basis since 2018.

Around the same time, he started appearing on General Hospital, Carnes was cast in a recurring role on the ABC hit Desperate Housewives. He was cast as Justin, the love interest of Andrew Van de Camp. He was on the show for 11 episodes between 2004 and 2006. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
