Nancy Lee Grahn currently stars as Alexis Davis on General Hospital, but the actress has been on other soaps over the years including Port Charles, Santa Barbara, and One Life To Live.
Along with her soap career, Grahn has appeared on television shows such as Little House on the Prairie, Melrose Place, 7th Heaven, and Castle. From where she was born and raised to her personal life, here are five fast facts you need to know about the General Hospital star.
In The Beginning
Grahn was born on April 28 in Skokie, Illinois and got into acting because her parents were involved in community theater. Her first performance was in a production of Oklahoma, as “the pony on the left that pulled the surrey with the fringe on top.” She attended Niles North High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
First Onscreen Role
After moving to New York City and pursuing theater, Grahn also started her television career. Her first role was as Beverly Wilkes — Marco Dane’s secretary — on One Life To Live, a character she played for a couple of years.
Two-Time Winner
Grahn has been nominated for nine Daytime Emmys, winning two of them. She won her first for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work in Santa Barbara, tying with Debbi Morgan (ex-Angie, All My Children). She then went on to win her second in the same category for her work as Alexis on GH in 2012.
Standing Up For What’s Right
Along with being an actress, Grahn is very politically active and uses her free time to attend rallies and protests. She frequently posts about her beliefs on Instagram and Twitter and uses her platform to enact change.
She’s a fierce supporter of the LGBTQ community. She also started Daytime For Choice back in 1988, enlisting fellow actors in the daytime community to rally for a woman’s right to choose.
Getting Personal
Grahn has one daughter, Katharine Grace, who is named after her idol, Katharine Hepburn and is an incredible singer. Though she’s never been married, fans are suspicious Grahn may have recently married her current partner, who is a musician.
Grahn frequently shares photos of her man on social media and sparked wedding rumors after she shared a photo of a Happily Ever After sign to Instagram — but she never has confirmed their current status. Fans are just thrilled to see that she’s happy. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
